Product notes

Star anise, also known as star aniseed, is the star-shaped fruit of the star anise tree, a tree native to Asia. Harvested before ripening and then sun-dried, it reveals a distinctive eight-pointed shape, each point containing a shiny seed.

Highly fragrant, star anise develops powerful, warming aromas reminiscent of aniseed, liquorice and a slight peppery note. Its mild, sweet flavour adds a refined touch to culinary creations.

In cooking, it adds flavour to both savoury dishes and desserts. It is used in many spice blends and complements slow-cooked meats, stocks, compotes, jams, pastries and hot drinks such as mulled wine or certain herbal teas.

Enjoyed for centuries, star anise is also renowned for its digestive properties and its enchanting aroma, which invites you to embark on a journey of discovery through the flavours of the world.
