Saffron stigmas are one of the world’s most precious spices. It is obtained from the red stigmas of the Crocus sativus flower, harvested by hand with the utmost care and then carefully dried. This demanding production method explains its rarity and exceptional value.

Recognisable by its intense red colour and unique fragrance, saffron develops subtle, floral, honeyed and slightly spicy aromas. Its refined flavour lends elegance and depth to many culinary dishes.

Highly prized in Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Asian cuisines, saffron delicately flavours risottos, paellas, fish, shellfish, sauces, soups and festive dishes. It is also used in certain traditional pastries, desserts and drinks.

Just a few stigmas are enough to colour and flavour a dish. Once steeped, saffron releases a magnificent golden hue as well as the full richness of its aromas.

Tip: leave the stigmas to infuse in a little lukewarm water, stock or milk for 15 to 30 minutes before adding them to your dish. This step allows their colour and exceptional fragrance to be fully revealed.
