Product notes

Nigella, also known as black cumin, is a small black seed that has been used for centuries in the cuisines of the Middle East, Asia and the Mediterranean. Its unassuming appearance belies a remarkable aromatic richness that makes it a much-loved spice.

Nigella has a distinctive and complex flavour, blending slightly peppery, spicy and herbaceous notes with undertones reminiscent of oregano, roasted onion and walnut. Its subtle aroma adds character and depth to dishes.

Highly versatile, it is used to flavour breads, fougasses, flatbreads, vegetables, salads, cheeses, sauces, curries and stews. Sprinkled on before cooking or used as a finishing touch, it adds a crunchy texture and a delicately spicy flavour.

Prised since ancient times, nigella is also recognised for its many nutritional qualities. It is an essential ingredient for those wishing to discover authentic flavours and enrich their cooking with an original and refined note.
